Mexican Mountain Bike professional Daniel Castillo Noyola, riding for the German Mountainbike Racingteam, claimed victory at the Mexican Championships in the Eliminator Sprint this past weekend. The internationally experienced rider, who has delivered numerous strong results in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, entered the race as a favorite, but faced young and hungry competition.

The championships took place on a spectacular natural course set on a traditional tequila farm near Tepatitlán de Morelos. The technically demanding track featured a 6-meter-wide rock garden, multiple jumps, and a rhythmic sequence of rollers and natural obstacles. Despite the challenging terrain, Noyola maintained his strength throughout all race phases and confidently dominated each heat.

In the final, the World Cup rider started cautiously but surged to the front on the climb, distancing his rivals. Once he had clear passage through the technical sections, Noyola was able to raise his arms in celebration even before crossing the finish line.Surrounded by hundreds of enthusiastic fans, Dan Noyola celebrated one of the most emotional victories of his career: “It’s amazing to win here in front of all my people. But the pressure was extremely high. The young competitors in our country are getting stronger and stronger, and that’s a very good sign. Mexico goes cycling,” said the newly crowned Mexican Eliminator Champion.

Team manager Steffen Thum, who supported his athlete on site, expressed his admiration not only for Noyola’s development but also for the positive progression of the Mexican mountain bike scene and its national federation:
“For a talented athlete, it’s relatively easy to deliver a strong race when no one expects it. But performing when all eyes are on you, that is the true art of professional sport. Dan accomplished exactly that today,” said Thum.

With Noyola’s success, the German based Racingteam further strengthens the sporting quality of its roster. In 2026, the German, French, and now Mexican national champion titles will all be represented within the same German team. Thum also announced that a “significant new signing” is expected before the end of the year to help keep the team young, future-oriented, and competitively strong in the long term.
